Competition win is just the ticket for rugby-mad Osian

A dream has come true for a rugby-mad youngster from Caernarfon - his first ever trip to the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff to see a top international match.

Nine-year-old Osian Prys has won two tickets for him and his dad to watch the titanic clash between Wales and Australia on November 30.

Osian came out on top in a competition organised by Ifor Williams Trailers to raise money for St Kentigern Hospice in St Asaph.

We built a special mini version of the distinctive pink pavilion roof at the National Eisteddfod and put it on the back of one of our trailers.

It took pride of place on our stand at this year's Eisteddfod in Denbigh.

On a day out at the Eisteddfod, clever Osian was spot on with his guess that there were 3,730 trailer parts under the mini pink GRP domes.

St Kentigern is an eight-bed in patient hospice with day care facilities provides unparalleled care for those with life-threatening and terminal illness, but has to rely on 80 per cent of its income from the generous donations of the public.

Appropriately, the Ifor Williams Trailers stand also featured a steel sculpture of rugby legend Adam Jones as a tribute to the Welshmen who mauled the Aussies on the victorious Lions tour.

The man of steel is depicted holding up the tipper trailer and dumping the Australian team off the back - and Osian is hoping for a repeat performance in Cardiff.

Scarlets fan Osian said: "I feel really happy because I never would have got these tickets otherwise. I’m going to the rugby match with my dad. He’s really excited.

"Leigh Halfpenny is my favourite player because he kicks really well and wins points for the team."

Osian, who supports Manchester City, plays football for his local team Cae Glyn and plays rugby for his school, Ysgol y Gelli.

As well as being a keen sportsman, the multi-talented Osian also plays the piano and the trumpet.

Mum Angharad said: "Osian is over the moon. He’s absolutely delighted because he’s never won anything like this before.

"Osian’s Dad’s family come from Belgium and when we go over there we see Ifor Williams Trailers all of the time.

"I think it’s great that the money raised from the competition is going to a worthwhile cause like St Kentigern because they provide a valuable service to the community.

The runner up in the competition was Haydn Lewis, 59, a project coordinator from Aberaeron, who won a family ticket for the Zip World, Europe's longest zip wire at a disused quarry in Bethesda, in Gwynedd.

He said: "It’s brilliant. I was thinking of going on the Zip Wire anyway. I’m really looking forward to it, though my wife isn’t so sure. I have two sons 14, and 15 and they’re looking forward to it.

"I’m very happy that the money raised is going to a good cause.

"I’ve owned a lot of Ifor Williams Trailers. Their quality is fantastic and I use them to transport rock and trees.

Retired bank manager Malcolm Wynne, 74, from Corwen, came third and was delighted to win a Penderyn whisky set.

He said: "I’m looking forward to having a glass or two. Penderyn is the best whisky in my opinion. Ifor Williams Trailers and Penderyn are both great Welsh companies.

"You see Ifor Williams Trailers everywhere. Everybody praises them. They’re sold all over the world and Ifor Williams Trailers are woven into the fabric of the community here in Corwen."

Andrew Reece Jones, the Design Engineering Manager at Ifor Williams Trailers, said: "We're delighted for all our prize winners and I'm sure that Osian and his dad will have a great time. We're keeping our fingers crossed for a Welsh win.

"We're grateful to everybody who took part in the competition which to raise money for St Kentigern which provides a vital service and supports families in the area at a time they most need it."
