Geraint's starring role in TV trailer shoot

A trailer designer swapped his day job for a starring role on television.

Geraint Williams, 24, took centre stage for a film shoot by the popular TV rural affairs programme Ffermio on S4C with Ifor Williams Trailers.

The Graduate Design Engineer jumped into action when Ffermio wanted to film three of the award-winning company's trailers which are up for grabs in a special competition on the new series of the programme.

One of them, the TA5, livestock trailer is emblazoned with the Ffermio logo and a picture of the three main presenters.

Geraint was familiar with the market leading trailers long before he started working for the company.

A former pupil of Ysgol Eifionydd, in Porthmadog, he was brought up on a dairy farm, Pontreuddyn, in Tremadog, in Gwynedd, before studying Agricultural Engineering at Harper Adams University in Shropshire.

Geraint said: "I did a year out in industry with Ifor Willams Trailers and then went back to Harper Adams for my final year and luckily I was offered a permanent job after graduating.

"I was very pleased especially since they’re such a renowned company. You can’t go into a market in the UK without seeing an Ifor Williams trailer - it’s like an Ifor Williams Trailers appreciation society almost!

"It shows that we farmers have got confidence in the company and its products. That’s why they come back. When they come to renew their trailers they purchase another livestock trailer or whatever from Ifor Williams.

"Ffermio is extremely popular with Welsh farmers as well as farmers from other parts of the UK and Ireland".

"The Ffermio livestock trailer looks great thanks to the new vinyl wrapping facility at Ifor Williams Trailers. Our graphic designers can do any design that any customer wants."

According to production company Telesgop, who make Ffermio, the Ifor Williams Trailers competition has become increasingly popular with viewers.

Director Gareth Vaughan Jones said: "It really is a wonderful competition and we see an increase in interest year on year. Whether you’re a farmer or someone who loves the great outdoors an Ifor Williams trailer will always be a superb product to win.

"It’s fantastic that the company has, once again, put up three of their best products as prizes and I know that interest will again be massively high."

Iorwerth Roberts, the head of sales for Ifor Williams Trailers in North Wales, said they valued the partnership with Ffermio.

He said: "We were delighted to be given the opportunity to be involved with Ffermio again this year.

"We have had fantastic support from our loyal customers over many years and in return we feel it is vitally important to support the rural community – Ffermio have provided us with a great way of giving something back."

The first prize is a TA5 livestock trailer worth £4,250 plus VAT. The second prize is a Q7b trailer worth £1,665 plus VAT and the third prize is a Q5e off road trailer with ramp/door worth £890 plus VAT.
