IWT produces trailers for TV show

Ifor Williams Trailers will be taking centre stage in the latest series of the popular rural affairs programme, Ffermio, which starts on S4C in September.

Three of the award-winning company’s top-selling trailers will be up for grabs in a special Ffermio competition.

Telesgop, the production company behind Ffermio, are expecting entries from across the UK and Europe.

Digital technology and the Internet mean the programme can these days be seen by viewers well beyond the borders of Wales.

The launch of the competition at the Anglesey Show was attended by John Walter Jones, the Chair of S4C, and Elin Rhys, the managing director of Telesgop.

Ms Rhys said: "S4C is the only broadcaster in the UK that acknowledges that farmers are an important audience.

"Ffermio is the only programme that caters for farmers. We try and ensure that what we do is interesting to non farmers but if there is a burning agricultural issue we will go for it.

"We have non-Welsh speaking viewers tuning in as well – and people from as far afield as Holland and Scotland will be entering the competition.

"There will be tens of thousands of people trying to win the trailers and we are extremely grateful to Ifor Williams Trailers for their generosity.

"It is really valuable to us because the viewing figures go through the roof when the competition is on – people are very, very keen to win the trailers.

"The trailers made by the company are part and parcel of country life - they are an essential tool for farmers, small-holders or horse owners.

"They are extremely well made and you see them everywhere you go."

John Walter Jones, the Chair of S4C, said: "I have followed the company’s trailers along the highways and by-ways of Wales, England and beyond and it is a pleasure to do so, knowing that it is such a brilliant product made in Wales.

"It has been gratifying to hear on the show field today how many people appreciate the agricultural programming on S4C.

"Viewers in other countries tell me how lucky we are to have so many programmes on rural matters.

"The name of Ifor Williams Trailers is inextricably linked with the countryside, with trailers that perfectly match the needs the world of agriculture here in Wales and beyond.

"The fact that they are happy to support Ffermio in this way and provide trailers as prizes shows that they have faith in the programme and S4C as a broadcaster."

Iorwerth Roberts, the company’s head of sales in North Wales, was delighted to be involved with Ffermio again this year.

He said: "We greatly value the partnership with S4C and we’re pleased that the Ffermio competition is so popular every year because that is an indication that our trailers are in great demand."
